The Pirelli calendar is synonymous with beauty and titillation to grease monkeys everywhere, even if they may not word it quite so… You see this calendar is annually photographed by some of the very best fashion photographers in the world with some of the most desirable and beautiful models in the world – the end result: one amazing calendar! This year the calendar was produced and photographed by Karl Lagerfeld… Yes, many of you know him as the genius designer behind fashion power houses such as Chanel, but the man is also a gifted fashion photographer. For the 2011 Pirellie calendar he settled on the theme of “Mythology” which he felt to be the perfect analogy for iconic beautys of our day photographed in the nude…
Julianne Moore was noted for her performance in A Single Man (2010) that was produced by another heavy-weight contender of the fashion industry, Tom Ford (he of Gucci fame). She truns 50 on Friday and is one of the oldest women to pose for the calendar, which has been published by the Italian tyre company Pirelli since 1964. The 2011 edition, which was launched in Moscow on Tuesday, is inspired by Greek mythology.
