With this one I was on the fence and off the fence – I found Roksanda Ilincic in my usual way… Randomly paging a glossy. My interest was peaked more by the peeps who’ve been spotted in her creations – first ladies like The Duchess of Cambridge (our royal Kate), Samantha Cameron and Michelle Obama – than by the creations themselves. I turned a page and found the ladies Gywneth (Paltrow) and Florence (Welch) and decided here was someone worthy of a google… Of course she’s also being touted as one of London’s hottest style exports.
I heart her website very much! Loved the intimate snapshots of the behind the scenes shots of her latest collection, Loved (!) the play of textures that arrested my eyes, Loved (!!) the pretty colours and prints that spoke to me… So off I hopped to Fashion Inquisitive – my-go-to place for pics of the latest collections.
Urgh. I was on the fence again – wasn’t blown away when the first image reared it’s head in the page fold – thought it was a bit blah-blah even if the colour was intriguing. But, I still wanted to see more. And then somehow as each new image appeared I climbed off the fence into the camp of Roksanda Ilincic for definite this time. You see what I’ve done is select my favourite looks from the Spring Summer Collection 2012 and I figure that if it looks as cohesive and beautiful as I believe it does after a hack like me has had her editor’s way with it; well then, it must be something sort of special… And it is – my favourite moments the rope sashes, the clouds of shiny, bright fabric and the fabulous heels (be sure to spot the flashes of heels in the smudgy background figures – so cheeky!). So the bottom line is: If I could, I definitely would. Wear Roksanda Ilincic that is…
